Lincoln— Attorney General Doug Peterson announced today that the Lancaster County District Court approved a $6 million, 42 state settlement with Encore Capital Group Inc. and its subsidiaries Midland Credit Management, Inc. and Midland Funding, LLC, one of the nation’s largest debt buyers.

LINCOLN—Today, the Nebraska Attorney General announced the Neiman Marcus Group LLC has agreed to pay a $1.5 million settlement and implement a number of policies. This results from an investigation by 43 states and the District of Columbia into the 2013 breach of customer payment card data at seventy-seven Neiman Marcus stores in the United States.

LINCOLN – For-profit education company Career Education Corp. (CEC) has agreed to reform its recruiting and enrollment practices and forgo collecting approximately $493.7 million in debts owed by 179,529 students nationally, in a settlement with Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson and 48 other attorneys general.

Attorney General Peterson announced today that Wells Fargo Bank N.A. will pay $575 million to resolve claims that the bank violated state consumer protection law.  Nebraska’s share of the settlement is $5,210,423.
